HIS Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today graced the Federal Awards, Medals and Honours Investiture Ceremony held at Istana Negara, in conjunction with the celebration of his official birthday.

Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, was also present at the ceremony, which brought together members of the royal household, senior government leaders and foreign envoys in a formal state occasion.

Their Majesties were received on arrival by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who subsequently escorted them to the royal dais within the palace grounds.

Upon arrival at the parade area, His Majesty received a royal salute from the Main Guard of Honour drawn from the 1st Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD), comprising nine officers and 180 other ranks and led by Captain Nor Saifullah Mahmad @ Mohammed.

The national anthem Negaraku was performed by the RAMD Central Band as the King’s Royal Standard was hoisted, followed by a 21-gun salute fired by the 41st Battery of the Royal Artillery Regiment (Ceremonial), underscoring the formal military honours accorded to the sovereign.

Bernama reported that His Majesty then inspected the Guard of Honour before receiving a further royal salute, marking the conclusion of the ceremonial parade.

The King and Queen were later accompanied by the Prime Minister and his wife to the Balairung Seri (Throne Room), where the 2026 Federal Awards Investiture Ceremony was held and honours were conferred on 144 recipients during the session.

Also in attendance were Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, members of the Cabinet including Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, as well as accredited foreign diplomats.

The investiture marked the third such ceremony held under the reign of Sultan Ibrahim since His Majesty’s installation as King of Malaysia on July 20, 2024.

In total, 161 individuals were conferred Federal Awards, Honours and Medals in conjunction with this year’s official birthday celebrations of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. - June 1, 2026
