THREE members of the same family, including two children, were killed and another child injured after their multipurpose vehicle (MPV) crashed into the rear of a 20-tonne lorry on Jalan Raja Muda Musa in Tanjong Karang today.

The victims were a 44-year-old woman, an eight-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl.

Another boy, aged 10, suffered head injuries in the crash, which occurred at about 1.30pm as the Proton Exora was travelling towards Tanjong Karang.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call at 1.37pm, with a team from the Tanjong Karang Fire and Rescue Station arriving about 20 minutes later.

“Operations Commander reported that four victims were trapped inside the vehicle and firefighters carried out rescue work to extricate them.

“However, three victims, comprising an adult woman, a boy and a girl, were pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement today.

Ashrul Riezal said four firefighters from the Tanjong Karang Fire and Rescue Station were involved in the operation.

All the victims were handed over to police for further action. - October 8, 2026
