THE Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK) has left the investigation into the death of a 19-year-old Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (Polisas) student in Kuantan entirely to police, while pledging full cooperation with the authorities.

The victim, M Elisa Jonova, a Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management student, was found unconscious in a rented room in Jalan Air Putih 2 early Tuesday and was later pronounced dead.

In a statement on Wednesday, JPPKK said the case was now under investigation by the authorities.

“JPPKK and Polisas will provide full cooperation to assist the investigation process and leave it to the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation,” it said.

It was earlier reported that the student was believed to have been killed following an alleged dispute with her boyfriend at the rented room.

Kuantan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah said police received an emergency call from the victim’s boyfriend at about 4.32am informing them of the incident.

JPPKK also expressed its condolences to the victim’s family and said both the department and Polisas would continue to provide appropriate attention, support and assistance to them.

The department urged all parties not to speculate or circulate unverified information about the incident.

“The public are also urged to respect the privacy and feelings of the deceased’s family as they go through this difficult time.

“JPPKK and Polisas will continue to provide the necessary attention, support and assistance to the deceased’s family. Any further information will be announced from time to time,” the statement said. - October 7, 2026
