THE legal team for Toh Puan Na'imah Abdul Khalid today refuted claims that the police were unable to contact her and her sons.
In a statement today, her legal team said the claim creates an entirely inaccurate impression regarding their clients' cooperation.
“In reality, legal counsel responded in writing on the exact day the PDRM notice was received.
“Our clients remain fully contactable and cooperative through their lawyers,” they said.
Earlier, Federal Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said the widow of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, and her two sons were not in Malaysia.
He said police attempted to contact them shortly after investigations began, but found they had already left the country.
"A check with Immigration Department records found that all of them had left the country shortly after the police report was lodged.
"The investigation papers have been referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC), and we are awaiting further instructions," he said.
Kumar said 17 witnesses had had their statements recorded so far, and that the case was being investigated under Section 124B of the Penal Code.
“We condemn this probe, which relies on preposterous allegations stemming entirely from a police report by a disgruntled employee dismissed from our client's team.
“Activating the state machinery based on a terminated employee's grievances represents a profound failure of institutional due diligence, wasting public resources to record statements from 17 individuals,” said Na'imah’s lawyers.
The legal team cautioned against the dangerous application of SOSMA to a groundless employment dispute involving a private citizen.
“SOSMA is a law intended strictly for terrorism and national security threats.
“Layering it over Section 124B here sets a terrifying precedent and weaponises security laws to crush political inconveniences while undermining the rule of law,” they added. – June 3, 2026
