61-year-old woman mistakenly presses gas pedal, Porsche crashes into hotel lobby
The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987 – June 7, 2026

A LUXURY Porsche car skidded before crashing into the lobby of a hotel on Gurney Drive, Penang, after the driver is believed to have mistakenly pressed the gas pedal, today.

In the incident at about 11.15 am, no victims were reported to have suffered any injuries.

Northeast District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad, said that the police received a report regarding the incident at 12.05 pm from the 61-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle.

“Initial investigations found that the accident occurred when the woman was trying to return home after visiting her family members.

“She mistakenly pressed the gas pedal, causing the vehicle she was driving to crash into the hotel lobby,” he.

He added that the loss was still under investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said. – June 7, 2026
