KOTA BARU – The Kelantan government plans to open more low-risk Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres following the increase in infections in the state.
State Local Government, Housing and Health Committee chairman Dr Izani Husin said coronavirus patients at Raja Perempuan Zainab 2 Hospital, Kuala Krai Hospital and Tumpat Hospital “have reached 90%”.
“We are concerned about the increase in infections, when the hospitals’ capacity is insufficient. We are also in the midst of identifying several areas, such as Ketereh and Panji, to place Covid-19 patients,” he told reporters after inspecting the low-risk centre at the Kota Baru Municipal Council (KBMC) hall here today.
He said preparations at the facility are almost complete, adding that it can accommodate 120 beds and will be supervised by Dr Mohd Azman Yaakob.
Dr Izani said the 32 Covid-19 patients currently at the Nursing College here will be transferred to the KBMC hall.
“All those placed here will be aged 45 and below, with no underlying health conditions. Patients who are asymptomatic will be quarantined for 10 days after their first swab test.” – Bernama, January 4, 2021
