THE Highland Towers condominium in Hulu Klang will be demolished before the end of this year after the Magistrate's Court approved the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) application last week.

Its Deputy Chairman, Hasrolnizam Shaari, said the court's decision allows the building structure, which has been abandoned for more than three decades, to be demolished.

He said the MPAJ is currently in the process of coordinating further actions, especially for the party that will manage the demolition work.

"We will organise a meeting involving the unit owners represented by the developer and insolvency.

Earlier in his speech, Hasrolnizam said that MPAJ was committed to implementing various green programs and initiatives that benefit the community.

He said that various activities are carried out by MPAJ, including recycling programs, cleanliness campaigns, tree planting activities, environmental education and various other efforts that support the sustainable development agenda in the administrative area.

He said that the World Environment Day celebration today also provides an opportunity for the public to re-evaluate their respective roles and responsibilities in preserving the environment.

"Environmental sustainability is not only the responsibility of the government or local authorities, but is the responsibility of the entire community.

"Every small action taken such as practising recycling, reducing the use of plastic, keeping the surrounding area clean and planting trees, can have a great impact on the well-being of the environment," he said. – June 14, 2026
