Govt cuts fuel prices ahead of nationwide BUDI diesel rollout

THE Government will reduce retail fuel prices across all major categories from June 25 to June 30, with RON95 and RON97 petrol each falling by 25 sen per litre and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia dropping by 30 sen per litre.

Under the latest weekly pricing announcement by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), RON97 will be priced at RM4.10 per litre, down from RM4.35, while RON95 will decrease to RM3.47 per litre from RM3.72.

Diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will be reduced to RM4.07 per litre from RM4.37 per litre.

MOF, in a statement today, said subsidised fuel prices under targeted assistance programmes would remain unchanged.

Under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme, subsidised RON95 will continue to be sold at RM1.99 per litre for more than 14 million eligible recipients.

Meanwhile, diesel prices in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan will remain at RM2.15 per litre under existing subsidy arrangements.

The Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) will continue to provide RON95 at RM1.99 per litre, while the Subsidised Diesel Control Scheme (SKDS) will maintain diesel prices at RM2.15 per litre for eligible users.

MOF aslo confirmed that the BUDI MADANI Diesel (BUDI Diesel) mechanism will be implemented nationwide from July 1 as part of efforts to standardise diesel subsidy delivery across the country.

Under the new framework, eligible private diesel vehicle owners will be able to purchase subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre using their MyKad.

The government said diesel subsidies for strategic and critical sectors, including fishermen, smallholders, commodity producers and public land transport operators, will continue to be maintained.

"In line with efforts to balance the cost-of-living needs of the people and prudent fiscal management, the MADANI Government will continue to adopt a measured approach to shield consumers from price volatility while ensuring the country's fuel supply remains sufficient and secure," the ministry said.

The latest reduction comes amid easing global oil market pressures and ahead of Malaysia's expanded targeted fuel subsidy programme, which the government says is aimed at reducing leakages while ensuring assistance reaches eligible citizens. - June 24, 2026
