BARISAN Nasional (BN) candidate, who is also the incumbent of the Machap State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, submitted his nomination for the 16th State Election (PRN) at the Dewan Muafakat, Simpang Renggam District Council.

The Johor caretaker Menteri Besar arrived at 8.58 am, accompanied by BN Chairman and UMNO President, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Apart from the Deputy Prime Minister, he was accompanied by Sembrong MP, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein; Simpang Renggam MP, Datuk Seri Hasni Mohamad and former UMNO Youth Chief, Khairy Jamaluddin.

Before that, Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Machap state seat, Nor Hafiz Roslan, arrived at 8.50 am with his supporters.

Machap, one of the key battlegrounds for the Johor polls, is expected to see a straight fight between BN and PH.

In the 2022 state election, Onn Hafiz won Machap with a majority of 6,543 votes in a four-cornered contest.

Before representing Machap, he served as the assemblyman for Layang-Layang, a seat he won in the 14th General Election in 2018.

In Tebrau, UMNO Vice President, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, accompanied BN candidate for the Tiram state seat, Datuk Abdul Halim Suleiman, at the Taman Pelangi Indah Public Hall.

A four-cornered clash is expected in the Tiram DUN involving BN, which is also the seat holder, PH, Perikatan Nasional (PN) and BEersama.

In the 2022 Johor PRN, BN won in Tiram with a majority of 5,281 votes, when it secured 22,939 votes, defeating PN candidates (17,658 votes) and PKR (12,550). – June 27, 2026
