A FORM Three female student who was stabbed at a secondary school in Banting suffered injuries to her lung and around 16 stab wounds to various parts of her body during the incident on Monday morning.
The victim’s father, Mohd Firuz Ibrahim, 43, said he was at work when he received several missed calls from the school, which was attempting to inform him about the incident.
"I was arranging goods at the time and did not notice my phone ringing. When I called the school back, I thought my daughter was only unwell and never expected that she had become a stabbing victim," he said.
Mohd Firuz, who works as a delivery driver, said he was informed that medical staff were working to remove blood from his daughter’s left lung.
"At this point, I was told the medical team is trying to remove blood from my daughter’s left lung. She is in stable condition and is still able to speak," he said when met at Hospital Banting.
He expressed disappointment over the incident and called on the school to strengthen security measures to prevent similar cases from happening again.
Mohd Firuz said he understood that the suspect was previously his daughter’s classmate when they were in Form Two and was currently on leave from school while undergoing health treatment.
"I feel my daughter may not have been the suspect’s original target. Perhaps the suspect wanted to target someone else, but my daughter was the closest and did not have time to escape. That is why she became the victim," he said.
Earlier, the Selangor State Education Department (JPN) confirmed that the suspect, who allegedly stabbed a female student at the school in Banting, Kuala Langat, had been arrested by police.
The department said the injured student was receiving treatment at Hospital Banting.
The 15-year-old female suspect has since been remanded for four days to allow police to continue investigations into the case, which is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder. - July 7, 2026
