BARISAN Nasional (BN) has officially managed to secure a simple majority to form the state government after winning 29 out of 56 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats in the 16th Johor State Election (PRN).
The result was announced by the Election Commission (EC) Chairman, Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun, at a press conference on the official results of the Johor PRN at Bangunan Sultan Ismail, Kota Iskandar.
"Today, the voting process for the 16th Johor state election went well and smoothly.
"For the entire voting until 10.32 pm, BN has won a total of 29 seats out of the 56 seats allocated.
"And with this, it has succeeded in obtaining a majority of more than 50 per cent of the total seats contested," he said.
BN won the DUN seats of Kukup, Machap, Sedili, Bekok, Tenggaroh, Benut, Pekan Nanas, Penawar, Pasir Raja, Bukit Permai, Yong Peng, Rengit, Bukit Kepong, Pulai Sebatang, Johor Lama and Buloh Kasap.
The coalition also managed to win the Gambir, Mahkota, Bukit Pasir, Permas, Parit Raja, Parit Yani, Layang-Layang, Tanjung Surat, Tiram, Tangkak, Panti, Kota Iskandar and Endau state seats.
Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan (PH) has so far won two seats, namely the Bentayan and Mengkibol state seats.
The 16th Johor PRN saw a contest involving BN, PH, Perikatan Nasional (PN), Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama), Parti Ikatan Demokratik Malaysia (MUDA), Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM), Parti Orang Asli Malaysia (Asli), as well as Independent candidates. – July 11, 2026
