A 43-YEAR-OLD man has been remanded for three days after allegedly peeping at his stepdaughter while she was bathing, with the case uncovering a separate molestation allegation dating back to 2022.
The unemployed suspect was ordered to be remanded from today by Magistrate Aimi Nawwar Mohamad Othman following a police report lodged by the 22-year-old victim yesterday.
According to the report, the victim was bathing at about 10pm on Sunday at her home in Parit Sulong when she heard a sound resembling someone trying to pry open the bathroom door.
She came out of the bathroom and was told by her sister that their stepfather had allegedly been peeping through a gap in the bathroom door.
The victim subsequently confronted the suspect, who denied the allegation, before a verbal altercation broke out.
She then lodged a police report, which also revealed an alleged molestation by the suspect in April 2022, when she was 18.
According to the report, the victim alleged that the suspect had molested her in a room at their home but did not report the incident at the time following advice from family members.
Initial investigations found that the suspect had married the victim’s mother in 2014, two years after the death of her biological father in 2012.
Following the report, police arrested the suspect at a car wash centre in Jalan Tanjung Laboh at about 1.10pm yesterday.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force to a person with intent to outrage modesty and Section 509 of the Penal Code concerning words, gestures or acts intended to insult the modesty of a person. - September 8, 2026
