A WOMAN was killed and two others seriously injured after a lorry crashed into a broken-down car and a motorcyclist who had stopped to help on the North-South Expressway near Nilai this morning.
Nilai district police chief Superintendent Johari Yahya said the crash occurred at about 9am at KM284.4 of the northbound highway.
Preliminary investigations found that the 32-year-old woman was driving a Perodua Axia from Melaka towards Perak when the car broke down and stopped in the second lane from the left.
“A 22-year-old man riding a Honda RS150 motorcycle arrived at the scene and tried to help the woman move the vehicle,” he said in a statement today.
Johari said a Hino lorry driven by a 24-year-old man subsequently arrived and was believed to have failed to notice the disabled car and motorcycle.
“The lorry is believed to have crashed into the rear of the Perodua Axia and the motorcyclist who was helping,” he said.
The impact left the Axia driver with serious head and bodily injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Her 39-year-old sister, who was travelling in the Axia, and the motorcyclist also sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Red Zone of Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital for treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - September 16, 2026
