A 40-YEAR-OLD Malaysian woman died while scuba diving off Crystal Bay in Bali after strong currents swept away three divers in her group, Indonesian media reported.
The woman, identified as Siti Nuraini Rusidi, died at about 11.10am local time yesterday, according to reports.
She had started the recreational dive at about 8am with a dive guide, boat captain and several other divers.
The dive guide Eugenius Franciso Ray, 33, noticed Siti coughing when the group arrived at its first dive site at Manta Bay and asked about her health.
Siti reportedly said she was fit to continue and completed the dive at Manta Bay.
“While travelling to the next dive site at Crystal Bay, the victim was again asked about her health condition but still wanted to take part in the dive there,” the news portal reported, quoting a source.
The situation reportedly turned critical after the group reached Crystal Bay and encountered very strong currents, which swept away three divers before Siti was reported to have died.
The incident began circulating online after a user posted about it on Threads.
Siti’s family, when contacted, declined to comment further, saying they were still shocked by the incident. - September 17, 2026
