All northbound lanes of the North-South Expressway near the Menora Tunnel were blocked after a two-lorry crash on Friday - September 18, 2026

TRAFFIC on the northbound North-South Expressway (PLUS) from Ipoh towards Kuala Kangsar was brought to a standstill for about seven kilometres on Friday after a two-lorry crash at KM257.2, just after the Menora Tunnel.

PLUS Traffic said in a post on X that as of 10.27am, all northbound lanes remained blocked, with traffic diverted out at the Ipoh (South) Toll Plaza.

A contra-flow operation was also activated between KM257.3 and KM256.2 to help ease congestion.

Motorists were advised to plan their journeys and follow instructions from personnel at the scene.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received an emergency call about the crash at 8.58am.

He said the crash involved two lorries, with one of the drivers trapped in a vehicle.

"The rescue operation is currently under way to extricate the victim," he said.

Seven firefighters from the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station were involved in the rescue operation, which was still under way. - September 18, 2026
