MALAYSIA Airlines has climbed six places to 21st in the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, alongside sharp improvements in its cabin crew and airport service rankings.

The national carrier rose five places to third globally in the World’s Best Airline Cabin Crew category, from eighth in 2025, while its World’s Best Airport Services ranking improved four places to second.

Malaysia Airlines was also named Best Airline Staff in Asia and moved four places to 12th in the World’s Best Economy Class Airlines category.

It entered the World’s Best Business Class Airlines ranking at 18th and improved one place to 11th among the World’s Cleanest Airlines.

The airline ranked 10th among the Best Airlines in Asia.

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) Group Managing Director Captain Nasaruddin A Bakar said the recognition reflected the work of employees across the airline’s airport, cabin and support operations.

“This recognition reflects the collective effort of our people at the airport, on board, and behind the scenes, working together every day to deliver authentic Malaysian Hospitality throughout our customers' journeys,” he said.

Nasaruddin said Malaysia Airlines’ year-to-date on-time performance stood at 91.38 per cent, consistently exceeding its internal targets.

The results come as MAG implements its Long-Term Business Plan 3.0 (LTBP 3.0), which targets placing Malaysia Airlines among the world’s top 10 carriers by 2030.

The group has taken delivery of 29 new aircraft as part of its fleet modernisation programme and plans to expand its fleet to 117 aircraft by 2035 to support network and capacity growth. - September 19, 2026
