A 47-YEAR-OLD engineer has lost RM330,000 after falling victim to an investment scam that promised lucrative returns, with the victim receiving only RM35,000 despite making 10 payments to the company.
A source said the man began investing in 2020 after being introduced to the scheme by a male friend who claimed to be an agent for the investment company.
“Throughout the investment period, the victim transferred money to the company 10 times, amounting to RM330,000 in total.
“However, during that period, he received a return only once, amounting to RM35,000, and to date he has not received any further payments as promised,” the source said.
The victim was also unable to contact his friend or the owner of the company, the source said.
Feeling that he had been cheated, the victim lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi police station on Sept 19 for further action.
Dang Wangi acting district police chief Superintendent Nuzulan Mohd Din confirmed that a report had been received. - September 23, 2026
