A 19-YEAR-OLD foreign student was killed and another seriously injured when a bus allegedly lost control and ploughed into their motorcycle at a traffic light in Jalan USJ 1 in Subang Jaya this morning.
Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the crash, involving five vehicles, occurred at about 6.34am as the bus was travelling from Persiaran Subang Mewah towards Edumetro.
He said the bus, driven by a 29-year-old local man, allegedly lost control upon reaching the location and rammed the motorcycle carrying the two students, who were stopped at a red light.
“The bus then crashed into a car parked on the left road shoulder before hitting two other vehicles in front of it,” he said in a statement today.
Wan Azlan said the motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries while the pillion rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both victims were foreign men aged 19 and students at a private higher education institution in Kuala Lumpur.
“The injured victim was taken to Shah Alam Hospital for treatment, while the deceased was taken to the hospital’s Forensic Unit for a post-mortem,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
