WANITA UMNO Subang Bestari is pairing the formation of its new branch with a digital intelligence initiative aimed at giving its communication and campaign efforts a firmer footing in data and media analysis.

Nik Suryani Megat Deraman, who has been appointed to lead the branch, said the move would bring together women’s ideas, experience and expertise while strengthening the organisation’s work at the grassroots level.

She said digital tools could help improve how the organisation communicates with the public, but should not replace direct engagement with the community.

“Organisational work must move in tandem with changes in the communication landscape and developments in digital technology, without neglecting face-to-face engagement and close relationships with the local community,” she said in a statement today.

The initiative, known as Citra Nang — Strategic Digital Intelligence & Influence Team — was founded and is led by Nik Suryani in collaboration with the Malaysian Multimedia Journalism Association.

It will focus on monitoring issues, analysing online discussions, gauging public sentiment and assessing how media content performs, with the findings intended to guide communication planning and campaign strategies.

The approach is designed to go beyond simply producing social media content or increasing online visibility.

Instead, it seeks to identify patterns in public conversations and understand audience responses before translating those findings into practical communication strategies.

Citra Nang is also intended to complement Wanita UMNO’s existing digital campaign activities, including those under PR10, by linking online analysis with work carried out on the ground.

Its planned areas of focus include developing communication strategies, strengthening digital presence, refining content and evaluating the effectiveness of communications on an ongoing basis.

The establishment of the Subang Bestari branch and the introduction of Citra Nang bring together two areas of work — grassroots organisation and digital communication — under an effort to make the group’s outreach more structured and informed by audience responses. - October 30, 2026
