THE Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has ordered police to carry out further investigations into allegations involving Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim, after returning the investigation papers submitted last week.
The AGC said it had reviewed the papers submitted by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) on Oct 30 and found that further investigative steps were needed before a decision could be made.
“The investigation was opened under Section 506 of the Penal Code. Following a comprehensive review, it was found that several further steps must be undertaken by the investigating officer before any decision can be made.
“Therefore, the investigation papers will be returned to PDRM today for further action,” it said in a statement.

The investigation concerns allegations that Ismail signed a proclamation relating to the position of the Negeri Sembilan Yang di-Pertuan Besar while under undue influence.
The AGC’s statement followed its clarification a day earlier that there had been no delay in reviewing the case.
Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar said the police inquiry papers had been referred to the AGC on Sept 29 and returned to PDRM with instructions on Oct 7.
The issue arose after Rasah MP Cha Kee Chin questioned the time taken by the AGC to decide on the investigation, saying Negeri Sembilan residents were still awaiting developments despite police having submitted the papers. - November 3, 2026
