THE Accountant General’s Department (AGD) has recorded over RM14 billion in Unclaimed Money (WTD) as of September 2026.
Minister of Finance II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan stated that the AGD has conducted 176 WTD outreach programs nationwide to raise public awareness regarding the right to file claims.
He noted that factors contributing to these funds remaining unclaimed include a lack of awareness and knowledge regarding the existence of WTD and the right to claim.
Amir added that the government has implemented several measures to simplify the repayment process for the original owners, including those living in rural areas.
“The AGD eGUMIS portal makes it easier for the public to check for and claim WTD online.
“This system enhances the effectiveness of WTD management and ensures that funds belonging to individuals or organizations can be returned to their rightful owners more quickly, easily, and free of charge,” he said.
He stated this while at the committee-stage debate on the MADANI Budget Supply Bill for the Ministry of Finance (MOF) in the Dewan Rakyat.
In addition to booth-based outreach programs, the AGD also provides a mobile bus service, operating twice a month to bring WTD-related services closer to the public. – November 4, 2026
