PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s appearance in a Deepavali-themed video has captured widespread attention.

Anwar’s cameo features in a video shared today by content creator Thedavidshere (content creator Devaraj David).

Adding a touch of humour, Anwar appears as if he were acting in a Tamil action film, delivering a message encouraging people to return home to their families to celebrate Deepavali.

A look at the comments section reveals that many users were excited to see Anwar in the video.

“This is the best Deepavali advertisement since the Petronas one featuring the grandmother in Bangsar, along with Muthusamy Karupiah—or ‘Sam’—and his friend Muniandy Chinnadorai,” remarked Flywengs.

“The most epic Deepavali ad so far. This collaboration is truly out of the box! What a stroke of luck for this guy. Happy Deepavali, bro!” said Peter.

Earlier, Anwar called on all Malaysians to use the Deepavali celebration as an opportunity to continue fostering goodness, mutual respect, and harmony within a multicultural and multi-faith society.

On Facebook, Anwar said that despite cultural and religious diversity, the people share the same values - love, understanding, and the desire to live together in peace and harmony.

Anwar also uploaded a two-minute-12-second video highlighting his visit to the 2026 Deepavali Mega Bazaar in Brickfields yesterday. – November 6, 2026
