[UPDATED] 2,985 new Covid-19 cases today, 4 deaths

KUALA LUMPUR – The country today registered 2,985 new Covid-19 cases, a decline from yesterday’s record high of 3,309. 

Another four deaths were recorded, pushing overall fatalities to 563.

The new cases bring the cumulative number of infections to 144,518.

The country also recorded 994 new recoveries, raising the total discharged to 111,578.

Of today’s 2,985 new cases, two were imported, 197 were under intensive care, while 79 required ventilators.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 837, followed by Johor (535), Sabah (450), Kuala Lumpur (289), Sarawak (166), Pahang (143), Negeri Sembilan (106), and Penang (105).

Kedah saw 97 cases, followed by Kelantan (85) Perak (61), Terengganu (27), Putrajaya (11), Perlis (1), while Labuan is the only territory without any newly reported cases today.

Three of the four deaths today occurred in Sabah, involving two local men aged 63 and 62, as well as a foreign teenager aged 19. The other death was recorded in Johor involving a 77-year-old man.

Noor Hisham said a total of 616 clusters have been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic, including 11 new clusters today. He also said 346 clusters have ended today, including two consisting the Condong construction site and Seri Tasik clusters.

He said 270 clusters are still active, with 71 of them recording new cases today, including the clusters Tembok Choh (161 cases), Tembok Mempaga (110 cases), and Jalan Rami (109 cases)

There 11 new clusters reported today are Taman Integrasi in Gombak, Selangor (119 cases), Jalan Ijuk covering Petaling, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Klang, and Hulu Langat in Selangor (99 cases), Jalan Rami covering Muar in Johor (112 cases), Kota at Kota Tinggi in Johor (57 cases), Tanjung Megah at Pontian in Johor (12 cases), and Jalan Kasturi covering Lembah Pantai and Kepong in Kuala Lumpur (16 cases).

The other new clusters are Jalan Thamby (23 cases), Taman Batik covering Kuala Muda and Baling in Kedah (9 cases), Bukit Bakar at Machang, Kelantan (18 cases), Kampung Tengah at Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (20 cases), and Dialisis Malim at Alor Gajah, Melaka (13 cases). – The Vibes, January 13, 2021
