KOTA KINABALU - It appears that the uncertainty over the next Sabah chief minister has been resolved. The Istana Negeri Sabah today issued an invitation for a swearing-in ceremony at 10.30am tomorrow.
It is understood that a Sabah Star official entered the palace’s gates around 10.10am today, reinforcing talks that the chief minister will be from Perikatan Nasional (PN) of which Sabah Star is a component.
Sabah Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor and Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin are the two names that have been floated for the post.
It is understood that Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), which had six reps voted in during the state election on Sept 26, has given their support to Hajiji to be chief minister.
Meanwhile, the Warisan camp at Rumah Yayasan Sabah in Likas felt quiet and sombre with cars observed purring in and out.
Sabah is still without a chief minister after the result of the state election was announced around midnight of Sept 26.
The components of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah alliance - PN, Barisan Nasional (BN) and PBS - collectively won 38 seats.
The Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal-led Warisan, which was in power before the state assembly’s dissolution on July 30, and its allies got 32 seats.
