GEORGE TOWN – Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed was discharged earlier today from Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital, but not before enduring several anxious moments.
More affectionately known as Tok Pa, the veteran politician was earlier rushed to the intensive care unit when his breathing was affected by a Covid-19 infection, which went after his lungs.
The minister in the Prime Minister’s Department shared his ordeal through a series of Facebook posts, pointing out that he was grateful that Allah had spared his life after three days in the ICU.
Mustapa said that he was also grateful to the hospital’s doctors and nurses as well as other frontliners who helped him battle the virus.
One of five cabinet members stricken with the virus, the 70-year-old was allowed to go home today after 12 days of hospitalisation.
It is believed that his colleague Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin is also battling similar symptoms, as the virus causes breathing complications as it attacks the lungs.
Mustapa reminded the public to adhere to the new normal where one must be masked in public, practise good hygiene and social distancing.
“The threat is serious, and it must be taken as such by the people. We have yet to win the war against Covid-19.”
Mustapa shared yesterday that his blood oxygen levels, blood pressure and overall vital signs were back to normal after the traumatic battle against the virus.
Although his appetite was not back to normal, the Kelantanese said that he is grateful he has managed to suppress the viral attack.
