IPOH – Marriage solemnisation ceremonies in Perak can only be held at district Islamic religious offices, under the supervision of the District Islamic Religious Administration Officer or his representative during the movement control order (MCO) period, which will be in place until February 4.
The Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) director Mohd Yusop Husin said a special room for the ceremony would be provided at each office and disinfection of the room would be done from time to time, to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
“No other rituals or traditions, such as negating the ablution, slipping on the ring and photography session are allowed.
“Everyone involved must wear face masks and use hand sanitiser,” he said in the Perak New Norm Marriage Solemnisation Ceremony Procedure Directive 4.0 released here today.
Yusop said only 15 solemnisation ceremonies were allowed per day at each district office, with each ceremony taking not more than 30 minutes.
Apart from the marriage officials, the bride and groom, the wali (bride’s guardian) and two witnesses, the ceremony could also be attended by the couple’s parents and a photographer. – Bernama, January 22, 2021
