KUANTAN – Aid for flood victims in Pahang coming from outside the state during the movement control order (MCO), can only be delivered to collection centres set up at Bentong, Rompin, and Kuantan, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
He said the decision was made at the State Security Special Committee (JKKN) meeting yesterday, which also required those delivering the goods to get an inter-state travel permit from the police and approvals via ebanjir.gov.my.
“They are not allowed to send the goods directly to the location or meet the flood victims, as the disaster relief distribution will be done by the state and district operations control centres (PKOB).
“Volunteers and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from Pahang are still allowed to carry out post-flood gotong-royong activities provided that the number of participants is limited to between 10 to 15 people and they must fulfill all JKKN requirements,” he said in a statement here today.
The federal government imposed the MCO in Pahang effective yesterday, and as this came two days after the state fully recovered from the floods, several parties have shown interest in helping to provide post-flood assistance.
In addition Wan Rosdy said during the MCO until February 4, night markets are allowed to operate from 4pm to 10pm with strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOP) as the entry points would be controlled, canopies set up 1m apart, and traders or visitors with symptoms prohibited from entering the site.
He said, shopping malls too are allowed to open from 10am to 10pm, but entertainment businesses including those catering to games such as kiddie rides and bowling, cinemas, karaoke centres, cyber cafes, spas, and massage parlours are not permitted.
“However, the entrance at shopping malls must be controlled and the number of people allowed in at one time, limited. Customers are not allowed to try on clothes and shoes unless disposable plastics or socks are used and goods sold are not returnable,” he said.
Hand sanitisers, tissues and bins must be available at ATM machines and shopping complex entrances and malls where positive cases have been detected would be closed for three days for sanitisation purposes.
Although several activities are allowed to operate, Wan Rosdy stressed that children under 12, are not allowed at shopping malls, night markets, supermarkets, farmers markets, wholesale markets, and other public places.
Wan Rosdy added that late night bazaars, car boot sales as well as music, dance, art and language classes are not allowed while the MCO is being enforced in Pahang. – Bernama, January 23, 2021
