KUALA LUMPUR – Celebrations for Federal Territory Day will continue amid the Covid-19 pandemic, with several programmes lined up and the standard operating procedures in place.
Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the celebrations, themed “Federal Territory, Caring Territory”, will begin with a special prayer programme, Wilayah Persekutuan Bermunajat, which will be held simultaneously – and virtually – after Maghrib prayers tomorrow at mosques and surau in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
“Even though the celebrations will be held under the movement control order (MCO) without any mass gatherings, they will be meaningful, as we are emphasising on the caring culture among Federal Territory folk,” he told Bernama in an interview in conjunction with this year’s celebrations.
Among the planned programmes is the launch of the 5MY initiative aimed at helping the urban poor, as well as the Residensi Prihatin affordable housing project.
“There will also be an announcement on the recipients of medals and honours, but the investiture will be held only after the MCO is lifted,” said Annuar. – Bernama, January 29, 2021
