MIRI – PKR Sarawak has called on state government leaders to be the first to get the Covid-19 vaccine jabs.
State PKR vice-president Roland Engan said state ministers and all elected assembly representatives should volunteer to try out the vaccine first.
Roland, who is also Baram PKR chief, said once the vaccines arrive in Sarawak, they must not be distributed in rural settlements just yet.
In a press statement today, he said the vaccine must be tried out before it is administered to the people.
“Government leaders should receive the vaccine first before the people.
“Chief ministers, deputy chief ministers, cabinet ministers, assistant ministers, other high-ranking ministry officials, and state assembly representatives should get the jab first.
“This is to prove that the vaccine is safe, so the people will be able to receive the vaccine without fear,” he said.
Roland said PKR Sarawak wants a comprehensive analysis on the vaccine to make sure there are no side effects.
Sarawak is expected to start getting doses of the Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer next month.
The logistic test runs are already in progress in Belaga Clinic in central Sarawak to determine the stability of its storage freezer, which must maintain a temperature of -70°C. – The Vibes, January 30, 2021
