KUALA LUMPUR – The high court today set October 28 to hear an application by the wife and four children of former Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim to stay the government’s suit to forfeit almost RM16 million from their accounts.

Judge Datuk Muhammad Jamil Hussin fixed the date after lawyer Mohd Rifahmi Abdul Musikin, representing the family, asked for a postponement of the application’s hearing as main counsel M. Athimulan is attending to another case at the Palace of Justice.

Deputy public prosecutor Nik Haslinie Hashim said the prosecution does not object.

The family want the forfeiture proceeding stayed pending the disposal of Azeez’s ongoing corruption trial at the sessions court.

Putrajaya initiated the proceeding to forfeit funds from personal TH accounts belonging to Azeez’s wife Khadijah Mohd Noor and their four children, namely Mohamed Khairul Anwar, Mohamed Khairul Azman, Khaleeda Azwav and Khaleeda Azeera, as well as their company account Azeera Management Consultants (M) Sdn Bhd.

The prosecution filed the suit against the family in September last year, and the stay bid was filed in January. – Bernama, September 30, 2020
