KUALA LUMPUR – The government will implement an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in two new areas while extending restrictions in two localities.
SM Sultan Idris Shah II in Gerik, Perak and Kg Sebako 1 and 2 in Lundu, Sarawak will serve the EMCO starting tomorrow until February 19.
At the Gerik school, the Health Ministry had conducted 81 screenings and found 24 Covid-19 cases while awaiting results for two more samples.
In the Lundu villages, the ministry conducted 790 tests and recorded 31 cases.
In Kg Sebako 1 and 2, residents are not allowed to leave or enter the EMCO zones with the exception of death or illness pending police approval.
A family representative can contact the Kuching National Disaster Management (Nadma) or the operation room for assistance.
All mosques, surau and houses of worship as well as schools in the EMCO area will remain closed. The same applies to economic, social, recreational and cultural activities. Food assistance will be coordinated with the Nadma office in Kuching.
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a statement today that the EMCO will be extended in Sarawak’s Kg Sg Ud and Kg Sg Ud Hilir, Dalat, starting tomorrow until February 19. It was scheduled to end on February 10.
For these two areas, the ministry has logged 21 cases as of February 3 and are awaiting results for 2,021 samples. – The Vibes, February 5, 2021
