KUALA LUMPUR – The government has enforced the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in 18 residential areas in Bandar Muadzam Shah, Pahang, with the exception of Rompin satellite city.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in his daily Covid-19 updates said the communities will go under lockdown from tomorrow to February 22.
“Up till now, the Health Ministry has reported 13 Covid-19 cases from the Hikmah cluster, involving the congregation from the Al-Muadzam Shah Mosque, as well as families living in these residential areas.
“The ministry also confirmed that there has been a spike of positive cases involving the community, where 13 of those cases have been recorded in 10 days.”
The residential areas are Desa Bidara, Desa Keranji, Taman Redan Perdana, Desa Teratai, Desa Melor, Desa Mawar 1, Desa Mawar 2, Desa Jati 1, Desa Jati 2, Desa Anggerik, Desa Kenanga, Desa Tanjung, Desa Dahlia 1, Desa Dahlia 2, Desa Cempaka, Desa Alamanda, Pinggir Pelangi and Desa Semarak.
In total, the EMCO will affect 9,805 residents in 2,178 homes.
Meanwhile, the authorities have also arrested 950 individuals yesterday for breaching the Covid-19 standard operating procedures, with 838 being issued compounds, 93 held under remanded custody and 19 allowed bail.
Among the offences recorded are a lack of physical distancing (217), crossing districts/states without a permit (209), not wearing face masks (180), failure to prepare record-keeping equipment for customers (117), and business premises operating beyond approved hours/without approval (41).
Other offences recorded are entertainment centre activities (39), leaving home without a good reason (30), passenger overload (19), breaching quarantine (15), and others (83).
During the Ops Benteng border patrol, the authorities arrested 24 illegal migrants, and seized two land transport vehicles and two boats. – The Vibes, February 8, 2021
