KOTA KINABALU – Sabah today announced a special allocation of RM100,000 each for all 31 opposition assemblymen, as the country’s easternmost state continues to reel from the Covid-19 crisis.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the funds will allow elected representatives to assist constituents affected by the pandemic.
“The allocation is part of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government’s effort to help ease the burden of the rakyat affected by the spread of Covid-19,” he said today at a function in Pantai Dalit, near his constituency of Sulaman.
Hajiji, who is also state finance minister, expressed hope that the money will help alleviate the burden of constituents in opposition-led state seats.
The special allocation will be channelled to all opposition reps via their respective district offices, he said.
Aside from Sabah, the Perlis and Johor government had also provided special allocations to opposition representatives. – The Vibes, February 9, 2021
