KUALA LUMPUR – Police have launched a probe against Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa who allegedly violated standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the movement control order (MCO).
Free Malaysia Today quoted Kuala Lumpur police chief Saiful Azly Kamaruddin as saying that Annuar would be called in to provide details on an event that took place on Friday, in which he was photographed sharing a table with six others over a meal.
“An investigation paper has been opened,” Saiful was quoted as saying. He said a report on the incident had been launched in Cheras.
Asked to confirm whether Annuar will be asked to provide his statement, Saiful said “Yes … of course.”
Last week the National Security Council (NSC) announced the two-person per table policy under the MCO.
Earlier today, the organiser of Friday’s event, Zainuddin Amran, chairman of the Sungai Midah Floodwater Retention Pond Nature Lovers Club, apologised for the incident, saying that Annuar only sat at the table for a short while.
MalaysiaKini quoted Zainuddin as apologising over the failure to comply with SOPs when inviting the minister to visit their community project site.
“As a community representative, I apologise to Tan Sri (Annuar) and the Malaysian people. We admit our faults,” he said.
