PUTRAJAYA – A guide book on the national Covid-19 immunisation programme will be released tomorrow, ahead of the programme’s launch at the end of this month.
The book, to be launched by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at 9.30am, was announced by the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee in a tweet today.
According to the infographic attached to the tweet, the immunisation plan encompasses four key components, namely vaccine supply, target groups and phases of vaccination, locations and methods of implementing the programme, and manpower for implementation.
The committee urged the public to download the MySejahtera app for information on registering for the vaccination.
On February 4, the prime minister had said that the programme would be the biggest vaccination effort ever implemented in Malaysia.
He said 80% of the country’s population, or approximately 26.5 million people, are expected to receive the vaccine free of charge in three phases.
The first from end-February to April involves some 500,000 medical and non-medical frontliners.
The second from April to August will involve those at high risk, namely the elderly and vulnerable people aged 60 and above, and those with morbidity problems such as heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure, as well as people with disabilities.
The third phase involves adults aged 18 and above who will receive the vaccine between May this year and February next year.
Last Friday, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said public registration to be a vaccine recipient is expected to begin in March and will be on a voluntary basis. – Bernama, February 15, 2021
