KUALA LUMPUR – The task of ensuring the security of the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine, which will arrive in the country today, is entrusted to Serdang police, who are responsible for the administration of the doses’ storage centre.
District police chief Razali Abu Samah said the vaccine is expected to arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport about 9am, with security to first be implemented by Selangor police.
“Once the convoy of vehicles carrying the vaccine enters Serdang, we will take over until the vaccine reaches the storage centre,” he said here yesterday.
He said a number of officers will be stationed inside and outside the storage facility at all times.
“Policemen will be on duty for 24 hours in rotation to ensure the storage area is secure.”
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, in a recent Twitter post, said the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency is in the midst of evaluating Sinovac’s clinic data.
Its vaccine has passed the third stage of clinical trials in several countries, including Brazil, Turkey and Indonesia. – Bernama, February 27, 2021
