KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia logged 1,208 Covid-19 new cases, nine of which were imported, and three deaths today.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the cumulative number of infections to 324,971 and the death toll to 1,213.

Meanwhile, 1,973 recoveries were recorded, bringing the total discharged to 308,247.

Dr Noor Hisham said that 155 cases were under intensive care while another 70 required breathing assistance.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases at 379, followed by Sarawak (251), Pulau Pinang (142), and Johor (118).

Negeri Sembilan logged 80 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (61), Terengganu (39), Perak (37), Sabah (29), Kedah (27), Kelantan (25), and Pahang (17).

Melaka recorded two cases, while Putrajaya detected one case. Labuan and Perlis did not record any new cases today.

Dr Noor Hisham said six cases reported today are related to clusters in detention centres comprising the Tembok Tapah cluster (five cases), and Telok Mas cluster (one case).

He said Selangor, Johor and Sarawak each recorded one death, of which two were locals while the other was a non-citizen.

The country has recorded a total of 1,250 clusters, including 13 new clusters today.

A total of 813 clusters have ended, including six today comprising the Jalan Tropicana, Pengkalan Teras, Jalan Perindustrian Getah, Lengkok Pantai, Tabong, and Jalan Niaga clusters.

Dr Noor Hisham said that 431 clusters were currently active, of which 56 recorded new cases.

The clusters logging the highest number of cases are the Tanjung Suria cluster (29 cases), Ladang Bukit cluster (29 cases), and the Jalan Mega Lima cluster (22 cases).

He said 12 out of the 13 new clusters were workplace related, while one was linked to a religious gathering.

Selangor logged the Perusahaan Amari cluster in the Gombak district with eight cases, and the Sungai Puloh cluster in Klang with 18 cases, followed by the Batu Tiga Lima cluster in Petaling with 20 cases.

Johor recorded the Jalan Mega Lima cluster in Johor Bahru with 22 cases, the Jalan Delima cluster in the same district with 21 cases, as well as the Batu 19 cluster in Johor Bahru and Kulai with nine cases.

Sarawak detected the Jalan Tanjung cluster in Bintulu with 19 cases, and Negeri Sembilan logged the Gunung Mas cluster in Tampin and Kuala Pilah with 32 cases.

Kuala Lumpur recorded the Jalan Lapan Belas cluster in Cheras with seven cases. Kedah saw the Jalan Sekerat cluster in Kuala Muda and Kulim with 17 cases, as well as the Bina Meha cluster in Kulim with 10 cases.

Finally, Terengganu recorded the Chendering Height cluster in Marang and Kuala Nerus with 10 cases, while Pahang logged the Kampung Air Batang cluster in Rompin with 15 cases. – The Vibes, March 15, 2021
