MIRI – The Kg Pa’Derung longhouse in the remote Bario mountains in northern Sarawak was razed at 2am today.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said the longhouse has eight adjoining housing quarters.
“The eight families managed to escape the fire. We have sent rescue teams to the site. But the location is remote and communications are severely limited.”
No serious injuries were reported. The affected villagers are now in makeshift huts while awaiting help from the welfare authorities. – The Vibes, March 19, 2021
