KOTA KINABALU – A senior state officer from Keningau has been arrested for allegedly seeking sexual gratification from a woman applying for a loan.
The 51-year-old officer, who is a state department head, was nabbed on Thursday by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) around 3.30pm in a hotel in Keningau yesterday.
Sources said the suspect had sought sexual gratification from the woman in return for supporting her agricultural loan.
Sabah MACC director S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrest today.
The suspect was detained for 24 hours to have his statement taken and has been released on a RM10,000 MACC bail with one surety.
The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
Karunanithy said the definition of bribe under Section 3 of the act covers loans, positions and also services such as sex. – The Vibes, March 20, 2021
