KOTA KINABALU – Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has voiced his concern over the politicking in Peninsular Malaysia, which he described as worse off than in Sabah.
The leader said that there is more work and less politicking done among the leaders in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), which ensures stability in the state.
“I see Sabah as more special, and the best examples are parties in GRS like Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), which have shown determination in meeting the people’s needs more than politicking,” he told reporters.
Muhyiddin said this in response to the in-fighting between PN and BN leaders and the planned fall-out of BN before the 15th general election (GE15).
“What is really needed is for the values of Sabah leaders to be extended to the whole country.
“This should be the priority. It is not about being more popular or better than others,” said Muhyiddin.
He said the determination and cooperation among leaders like Sabah Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, Sabah Star’s Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan, PBS president Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili, and heads from other parties like PAS and MCA are classic examples of leaders who are focused on developing the state.
Commenting on preparations for GE15, Muhyiddin said no specific discussions have been held with GRS leaders.
“Discussions have been more laid-back.
“Besides, Sabah just had its own elections, so if I had raised the matter, (Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor) may not be able to register the information right now.
“The rakyat have given their mandate to GRS, so it is time to focus on developing the state and delivering what has been promised in our election manifesto,” he said. – The Vibes, March 22, 2021
