PENDANG – The Occupational Safety and Health Department will call up the top management, including the CEO and chairman, of the contractor for works being conducted on the Sg Besi-Ulu Klang Elevated Expressway (SUKE), in its investigation into a fatal incident there recently.
Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Awang Hashim said the parties concerned must present the standard operating procedures at the site, as well as improvements made to ensure there is no recurrence.
“Earlier, the seminars and courses held involved only the occupational safety and health officer… but this is a major project involving billions of ringgit.
“The incident should receive serious attention... (We will check) if there was negligence on the part of the contractor, and we will improve the SOPs in all sectors if there are weaknesses, or make updates if need be,” he told reporters here today.
He said the meeting will be held on April 5.
