KUALA LUMPUR – The government announced that Klang, Selangor and three districts in Sabah – Sandakan, Papar, Tuaran – will be under a 14-day conditional movement control order (CMCO) from October 9 as they have been designated as Covid-19 red zones.
Senior Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made in a National Security Council (NSC) special meeting today, following the Ministry of Health's briefing on the virus outbreak in these four districts.
"Movements in and out of these four CMCO areas will be banned. Only essential services including factories and the related services network will be allowed.
“Looking at the increase in cases in those areas, the NSC in a special meeting today agreed to implement CMCO in these four areas from October 9, 2020,” he said in a press conference broadcast live on Facebook.

The standard operating procedure (SOP) for the affected areas includes allowing two members from a house to go out and get food and household supplies, closure of non-essential services, and limiting the operating hours of restaurants, grocery shops and convenience stores to between 6am and 6pm.
No sports, social and religious activities would be allowed while taxi, e-hailing and food delivery services can operate only from 6am to 8pm.
"Express and stage bus services are also not allowed to operate. Residents in the affected areas are not allowed to leave for work throughout the CMCO period.
