MIRI – Sarawak plans to increase the amount of electricity it is selling to Kalimantan in order to generate more income for the state.

Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Abang Johari Openg said the energy sector spanning the Sarawak-Kalimantan border has vast potentials as an income generator for the state in the years ahead.

“Sarawak is selling electricity to West Kalimantan already.

“We have plans to sell more electricity to other areas of Kalimantan.

“There are plenty of socio-economic opportunities opening up throughout Kalimantan.

“Since we in Sarawak have vast potential in hydro-generated electricity, we can sell more to Kalimantan to earn more revenue for our state,” he said when addressing a gathering of civil servants in Kuching. – The Vibes, April 1, 2021
