KUALA LUMPUR – PAS rejects any form of cooperation that is divisive, and deviates from the original Muafakat Nasional set up, president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said today.
He said PAS also rejects agendas championed solely to save political personalities and their group of followers.
“Our stand is clear; we have no intention of saving individuals or factions. Our aim is to save as many people as possible.
“As such, if there are those with narrow and limited minds, they must be left behind,” he said in a Facebook post.
The party also dismisses disunited alliances or groups that are disloyal to the country by taking on extreme views that challenge race and religion, Hadi added.
He called upon all Muslims to save the country by throwing their support behind Islamic-based Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional.
“This call to save the nation also goes out to non-extremist non-Muslims.
“Come and join this new (political choice), one that has integrity, is welfare-oriented, upholds the constitution and celebrates a multiracial and multireligious society.”
He said PAS will not entertain those who spend time playing sideline and street politics, which unsettles the people and is inconsiderate towards the environmental and health calamities afflicting the nation.
Yesterday, Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in a Facebook post asked the party’s partner in MN to think carefully on the importance of defending the alliance’s original idea.
“Learn from the past story of Angkatan Perpaduan Ummah and Semangat 46, which failed because the alliance is not genuine and formed dishonestly,” he said, adding that Umno is serious in wanting to strengthen the MN alliance formed in 2019.
He said MN’s various successes include many victories in by-elections and joint efforts to champion the interests of the people, adding that the alliance has gained the confidence of various races and religions. – Bernama, April 2, 2021
