KUALA LUMPUR – Four localities in three districts in Sabah and one in Pahang will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) starting tomorrow until April 27, said Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said that it includes two localities in the Sandakan district – namely, Sim-Sim Flats in Mukim Berhala and Kampung Sungai Obar, Batu 7, Mukim Sentosa – as well as Taman Villa Mas in Tawau and Kg Melangkap Tomis in Kota Belud.
In a statement on the movement control order (MCO) today, he said that four villages in Temerloh, Pahang will also be placed under the EMCO: namely, Kg Paya Pulai Tengah; Kg Pulau Terap; Paya Pulai-Kg Batu 4; and Paya Pulai-Kg Batu 5, Jalan Maran.
Apart from that, Ismail Sabri said that the EMCO in four localities in Tawau – namely, Kg Ranggu Batu 10, Mukim Balung; Phase 2 Taman Semarak, Mukim Balung; as well as Kg Baru Pasir Putih, Mukim Sri Tanjung – has been extended from April 15 to 28, while for Kg Simpang 3A, Merotai Besar the extension is from April 16 to 29.
The EMCO in two localities – namely, the YTY Factory and its workers’ hostels in Lekir, Setiawan, Perak; and Kg Rimbayan, Keningau in Sabah – will end on April 15, according to the statement.
A total of 73 individuals were arrested for standard operating procedure violations yesterday, with 64 compounded and nine remanded, he said.
He added that they involved offenses such as not wearing a face mask (21), failing to record personal details (14), entertainment centre-related activities (13), no physical distancing (6), and interstate or interdistrict travel without permission (4).
As for the country’s border control, he said that five illegal immigrants were arrested, and three land vehicles seized through Ops Benteng.
Meanwhile, police will conduct house-to-house checks to track down residents who flee from the 13 localities placed under the EMCO in Tawau.
District police chief ACP Peter Umbuas said they would get a list of all the residents registered as staying in the 13 localities for that purpose.
“We also have an integrated team under the Disaster Operation Command Centre for the same purpose, that is to identify and track down residents who flee from EMCO localities.
“Those who fled will be ordered to undergo Covid-19 screening as well as quarantine at existing quarantine centres. We only want to ensure that we can tackle the pandemic so that it doesn’t spread,” he told reporters after monitoring the situation Bandar Sri Indah, which is under the EMCO, here today.
From April 1 until today, 13 localities in Tawau have been placed under the EMCO, involving 17,804 residents.
The 13 localities are Kg Ranggu Batu 10; Fasa 2 Taman Semarak; Kg Baru Pasir Putih; Kg Simpang 3A Merotai Besar; Kg Muhibbah Raya; Bandar Sri Indah; Taman Sri Bukit Tawau; Taman Cahaya; Jalan Tengku Osman; Kuarters Bomba Tawau; Jalan Mesra, Kg Titingan, and Taman Golden Hill. – Bernama, April 13, 2021
