KUALA LUMPUR – The Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) will investigate allegations that three Muslim single mothers have had to seek financial assistance from a church after their aid applications were rejected by zakat and related agencies.
Minister Datuk Seri Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, speaking to reporters here yesterday, said he would have “definitely” offered aid to the women had he known about the situation.
It was reported that the women have been seeking aid from a church over the last few years after their applications to zakat and related agencies were turned down.
On the standard operating procedures for haj and umrah, Zulkifli said Saudi Arabia has yet to decide whether to allow the pilgrimages this year.
