KUALA LUMPUR – It is movement control order (MCO) 3.0 for all of Kuala Lumpur from Friday.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement today said the decision is based on Health Ministry recommendations.
The ministry detected 17 Covid-19 clusters in the capital between April 1 and 27, while the number of daily cases here is on the rise, he added.
“After studying the Health Ministry’s recommendations, the government has agreed to impose MCO in Kuala Lumpur from May 7 to 20.”
Ismail Sabri said interstate travel is banned with the exception of emergencies and work, adding that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be the same as the previous MCO.
Eateries, food trucks, hawkers and food kiosks may operate between 6am and midnight, but no dine-in is allowed. They may provide only takeaway and delivery services.
For morning, farmers’, public and weekend markets, they may open from 6am to 2pm.
While Ismail Sabri said Ramadan bazaars may remain open, he added that the decision will be up to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
Grocers, sundry shops and pharmacies may open from 6am to 10pm. However, petrol stations along highways will remain open for 24 hours.
Hospitals, clinics and medical laboratories will be in operation as usual.
The government has also prohibited official and unofficial public and private events, including feasts, engagements, weddings, receptions, aqiqah, tahlil, doa selamat, anniversaries, reunions, retreats and other social gatherings, in MCO areas.
Other MCO areas
Fourteen subdistricts in Besut, Terengganu, have been placed under MCO from May 7 to 20. The areas are:
- Kg Raja
- Lubuk Kawah
- Pelagat
- Tenang
- Keluang
- Bukit Kenak
- Kubang Bemban
- Jabi
- Kerandang
- Pengkalan Nangka
- Pasir Akar
- Tembila
- Bukit Puteri
- Kuala Besut
Similarly, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru in Johor will also start their MCO from May 7 to 20, along with Selama, Taiping and Larut Matang in Perak.
Taiping has seen an increase in infections in three of its active clusters, namely Jalan Kolam Dua in Kg Expo, Jalan Pokok Assam in Kg Pokok Assam, and Jalan Sepat in Kamunting. – The Vibes, May 5, 2021
