KUALA LUMPUR – PKR’s 15th national congress will be held according to schedule from June 4 to 6, but the format has been changed from hybrid to entirely online, said chief organising secretary Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
In a statement today, he said the resolution was reached at a political bureau meeting on May 15.
He said the event will begin with the Women’s wing congress on June 4, followed by the Youth wing meet on June 5 and national congress on June 6.
“All 2,400 PKR delegates and leaders will participate via Zoom. There will be no physical gathering.
“The media and public can follow the conference’s live broadcast on PKR’s social media.”
The decision to conduct the event 100% online was made in view of the movement control order imposed by the government to curb the spread of Covid-19, he said.
Nik Nazmi, who is also congress director, said the party has written to the Registrar of Societies on the matter, as well as informed the National Security Council. – Bernama, May 19, 2021
