KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 65 victims injured in an accident involving two light rail transit (LRT) trains near the KLCC station last night are still receiving treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).
Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said they comprise 29 men and 36 women.
“Those receiving treatment at HKL involve six foreigners, while the rest are locals.”
In the 8.45pm incident yesterday, 47 passengers suffered serious injuries and 166 sustained minor injuries after two LRT trains collided on the Kelana Jaya line.
The incident occurred in a tunnel between the KLCC station and Kg Baru station, and involved one train carrying passengers and another, which was said to have been test-driven following a fault, carrying only a driver.
The Transport Ministry has set up a special task force to investigate the cause of the incident.
The Kelana Jaya line is operating as normal since 6am today, using a single track and supported by a free shuttle bus service. – Bernama, May 25, 2021
