KOTA KINABALU – The utility costs for 16 hospital extension centers will be borne by the Sabah government, according to State Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, earlier tonight.

Masidi, who is also the Sabah government’s official spokesperson on Covid-19, said this in appreciation of the assistance given by the federal government to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The 16 centers are the civil service Intan Academy, Likas Sport Complex, Ranau Sport Complex, the Health Ministry training institute in Tawau, Tawau prison, Tawau Youth Arena Hall, Bul Bul Semporna people’s housing project, the Sandakan Health Ministry Training Institute, Kunak Youth Arena Hall, the Kota Belud rest house, Kinarut Excellence Training Centre, the Selagan Hall in Beaufort, the Batu Putih people’s housing project in Sandakan, the Keningau community hall and the Sri Sappayaga people’s housing project.

These facilities house a total of 3,876 beds.

Sabah today recorded four more deaths to the virus, specifically, an 80-year-old man from Lahad Datu, a 60-year-old woman in Kota Kinabalu and two more women, aged 73 and 47 in Sandakan.

A total of 429 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the state today, taking the total cumulative number to 5,493 cases, with 3,242 patients still undergoing treatment and 2,208 recoveries.

A total of 19,587 food baskets have been distributed to the targeted groups living in the various degrees of lockdowns across Sabah, Masidi said. – The Vibes, October 14, 2020
